Tom & Jordan's
Grey Envisage Flush Windows & French Door
A careful restoration of a 1920’s cottage for its newest keeper.
It seemed written in the stars that flush casement windows be used as a substitute for the original windows…
Previously occupied by Tom’s great grandparents, grandad and three younger brothers, the cottage has been in his family’s hands for 100 years. Now owned by himself, Tom took the opportunity to update the cottage, wanting to do so in a manner that was fully aligned with its original look.
Very handily, Tom had a photograph of the cottage in the 1950’s, used to identify a potential window replacement. On close inspection, it was mutually agreed that our flush casement windows would be best, particularly as their coloured bars and monkeytail handles could be finished in a hard grey colour. The hard grey injects a certain mood into the building.
When Tom informed us of his desire to have the kitchen flow into the garden and make the absolute most of the garden, we suggested converting the existing kitchen windows into French doors. He’s glad that we followed this recommendation as it’s completely transformed things.
Four hours is all the time it took…
Tom shares the cottage with his partner, Jordan, along with two dogs and several chickens. He couldn’t be more pleased about how the windows have reinvented its styling and stop outdoor noise being any sort of hindrance. He has done his ancestors very proud.
